Scope of Work
17,658 sq ft. (Main floor 6,458 sq ft. and all other floors 11,200 sq ft.)
Design brief - design the main lobby entrance, seating area and emergency room of a 4-story children’s hospital.
On every floor - recovery rooms, breakroom, elevator vestibule, restrooms, visitors/guest rooms, doctor's offices and nursing stations.
Concept - The four seasons. Each floor represents a different season with a fun and vibrant color scheme, graphic images and art work appealing to all ages.
The main floor: a winter wonderland - On each side of the entrance there are two large columns covered with colorful graphics and back-lit, becoming floor to ceiling pillars of light.
Scattered trees, seats mimicking pebbles and over-sized flowers placed on the main floor provide a playful environment upon entrance.
Each floor has its season's graphics on the glass railings, walls and reception areas at the nurse's stations with colorful seating, tables and tiles.
The light fixtures resembling stars in the sky emphasize height and draw the eye up to the skylight connecting the interior to the architecture of the building.
It was important to create a fun and colorful area, rich in it's mix of material and mediums such as graphics on the table tops, walls and glass railings.
